That was me, and I said it was "soo easy" (#msg-373176). I know it is possible in Excel to use dynamic references, but I would guess that it doesn't beat the EMA formula for simplicity:
(Factor*LastPrice) + ((1 - Factor) * PreviousEMA)

But I am always ready to learn more about Excel!
