when the DP was announced...he brought up the fact that the DP would prove to be more cost effective in the long run....something about dual cranes or something, making it much faster.

Jean Claude Gandur was extremely fortunate to secure the Deepwater Pathfinder, it's a great ship, and perfect for GoG, water depths. If Addax needs to drill down a little lower, they have spare capacity.
