As most of you have stated, BMC is a ginormous Company. BMC's solution for an IT Centralized Management Solution is phenomenal. I say phenomenal because BMC's solution is not only deliverable via traditional server/client packaged model, but also deliverable via SaaS.

As an IT how does BMC's Solution help reduce cost & make a Company I work for very efficient?
1.) BMC's solution is equivalent to a life support monitor for humans, but instead on servers & mainframes. Administrators will be notified of events before & when server/mainframes go down.
2.) BMC's solution centralizes your licenses for OS & Applications License's in 1 location. I just talked to an Avaya Business Partner (owner) 2 days ago, and he told me the horror story of how 1 of his customer was running on analog lines for 1 entire week, because he couldn't get a hold of the right person at Nortel. It took an entire week, because Nortel is bankrupt and had done some internal down-sizing. It took an entire week for Nortel to respond back and provide them the licensing information (Product Key). Client's Nortel Server crashed and reinstallation took place, but without any licensing information, services were not enabled. T1-PRI line was there and active and the only hold-up was inputting the Product Key to enable services.
3.) BMC's solution fine-tunes any SQL database to make it run more efficient. Customers of giant ERP manufacturers such as Oracle & SAP are utilizing BMC's solution, most of whom are actually Hosting Companies who are deliverying the application via SaaS. I'm currently working on the migration process of switching between Oracle Hosting Providers delivered via SaaS. Awesome stuff!!
4.) BMC's solution not only checks the life support of your server, but also monitors resources, such as CPU, memory, etc. BMC's solution will report over-usages or under-usages and will make recommendations, such as purchasing additional servers to offload some of the work.
5.) BMC's solution is an Asset Management Manager, which is awesome! I dread the day, my boss asks me to do an inventory of all IT hardware equipments. I work in a small environment and I'm already complaining. I can only imagine what the IT in the Enterprise Environment are thinking. "Thank God for BMC's Solution!!"
6.) BMC's solution will also monitor the life support of all used Business Applications used in the Business. If the application has a problem, administrators will be alerted.
7.) Above all BMC's Solution is Centralized and makes the day of an IT easier. This is a tremendous savings, particularly in reducing cost & making day-to-day production more efficient. To have someone or something tell me exactly what the problem is before I get a call from end-users is phenomenal. Down-Time is the Enemy!
