Dr. David B. Phillips will host "Exercise: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly -- The Damaging Effects of Oxidative Stress," at 7 p.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn, 6001 Rockside Road, Independence. All guests are admitted free.

Phillips graduated from Harvard University in 1984, where he earned academic honors and swam as an All-American. He completed his doctorate at Wright State University School of Medicine in 1989, where we was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

He completed his residency in emergency medicine at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was chief resident and practiced 11 years as a board certified emergency physician.

He also is a nationally ranked tri-athlete.
