Iran, Iraq: Pipeline Deal Reached
April 23, 2009
Iraq and Iran have agreed to a deal that will build an oil pipeline between Basra in southern Iraq a mile across the border to Abadan in southwest Iran, Iranian state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported April 23. The 32-inch pipeline will send Iraqi oil to an Iranian refinery, and is expected to account for half the 430,000 barrels per day processed at the Abadan refinery.
