Mobile barcode expert NeoMedia has announced a partnership with arvato services. Arvato is a service provider focusing on CRM and financial services. The actual details of the deal between the companies are sketchy at best, but arvato has declared it will be using NeoMedia barcoding technology for marketing campaigns and better communication with it’s customers.
Arvato is one of those very complicated companies that does a million different things. Amongst it’s disciplines are supply chain management, print, finance, CRM and customer care, data, IT services, etc…. one thing is certain. arvator produces a huge amount of printed material. On it’s website, the company claims to process over a million tons of paper into books, catalogues and other printed products every year, and ship six million CDs and DVDs from its replication plants each day. It is on these materials that the 2d barcodes from NeoMedia will be coming into use.
From the release:
Thomas Leitner, Vice President of arvato: “NeoMedia is enabling us to open up a new dimension of dialogue with the customer. The ability to interact with a consumer via his or her mobile device adds infinite value to the CRM and marketing disciplines. NeoMedia’s system offers an unrivalled level of performance monitoring – way above that of conventional methods, allowing us to precisely tailor future marketing activities for our customers as well as accurately measure feedback.”
Iain McCready, CEO of NeoMedia: “Gaining arvato services as a business partner is very gratifying. This accomplishment underlines our global market leadership and the outstanding quality of NeoMedia solutions. With this partner at our side we believe we will be able to reach new target groups and extend our mobile marketing value chain to the highest level thanks to integrated arvato solutions.”
What we think?
Another day, another NeoMedia release. Since it’s winning of the patent for adding actions or interactions to mobile barcodes, we’ve seen it doing great business across the board. Winning the patent seems to have energized the company, and seeing deals like this is a good thing. There’s two very important things missing, though. With the position that NeoMedia has gained, I would have hoped to have seen more effort being put into mobile barcode standardisation. And also, we haven’t seen any operator deals on the cards.
