Circuit City hires Streambank

Streambank LLC, a Needham consulting firm, said it has been hired by Circuit City Stores Inc. to assist in the marketing and sale of some of the company’s intellectual property assets.

Streambank’s retention is subject to formal bankruptcy court approval, Streambank said in a press release.

Virginia-based Circuit City, then the nation's second-largest consumer electronics chain, announced plans in January to go out of business after filing for bankruptcy protection late last year.

Streambank said it plans to work alongside Circuit City’s financial advisor and investment banker, Rothschild Inc., in the auction and sale of such assets as firedog, TradingCircuit.com and related businesses, the Circuit City trademark, and the circuitcity.com website.

Firedog was Circuit City’s installation and technical support service, and TradingCircuit.com the company’s proprietary auction platform for managing returned and exchanged merchandise, the press release said.
