Companies from Bank of America Corp. to International Business Machines Corp. and Halliburton Co. are scheduled to report earnings today. Analysts estimate that profits at S&P 500 companies decreased for the seventh straight quarter in the January to March period, the longest stretch of declines since at least the Great Depression.
“We are not through this crisis by a long way,” said Howard Wheeldon, a senior strategist at BGC Partners LP in London. “We will now have a bit of a lull. Markets were wallowing in the known and now they are adjusting to a new world order,” he told Bloomberg Television.
