I've had issues w/Scottrade as well. Didn't try anything today, however last time trading was "halted" on scottrade due to uncharacteristic volumes the prior days. I believe Scottrade halts trading through their system on penny stocks when this happens- someone told me its a 3 day freeze. However, it's also my understanding that if you call your local branch, they can place the trade for you and will only charge the internet rate. FWIW.
