After Tuesday's Bell Market Commentary
On Tuesday, two reports signaled the economy may be picking up. U.S. consumer confidence surged to a two-year high this month on hiring hopes while new home sales in June posted a smaller decline than expected. The Dow climbed 123.22 points, or 1.2%, to 10,085.14. The Nasdaq Composite Index grew 30.08, or 1.6%, to 1,869.10 and the S&P 500-stock index rose 10.76, or 1%, to 1,094.83.
