Wal-Mart's in-store leasing program provides local, regional and national businesses the opportunity to lease space inside traditional Wal-Mart stores and its Supercenters. "These proven high-traffic locations work well for tenants that offer a service or product that enhances the customers shopping experience," says Linda Brown Blakley, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman.

Although Wal-Mart fields numerous inquiries from prospective tenants, the firm also pursues a number of potential tenants. "Wal-Mart is focused on delivering a profitable complement of brands and services in order to enhance our brand image and improve the customer experience," Blakley says. Through its "Store of the Community" program, Wal-Mart is delivers services that meet the needs of the local community, and the company is constantly seeking innovative tenant ideas, she adds.
