As Rim searches for a buyer, one potential bidder, Ketch said, may be its biggest customer: a North American “DSLAM-maker” that has placed a $1-milion order this year that Rim has thus far been unable to fill.

But before anyone can take possession of Rim’s assets, whether it is the company’s lenders or a potential acquirer, those assets must first be reclaimed from Rim’s landlord, which has had them under lock and key for the past few weeks.

“We don’t think the landlord cares to own Rim’s chip,” Ketch said. “We think they want a small amount of cash…We believe we’ll be back in there shortly and back to work.”
