When Microsoft comes out with 64-bit Windows, then Intel will enable EM64T on the desktop

Intel has never made this linkage, so why are you? Sounds like the coverup for another Intel delay, in getting EM64T to actually work.

So far, I've not read any promises from Intel that its Prescott chips can have EM64T "enabled" at some future time. Are you saying that Intel will, IN WRITING, promise its customers that Prescott chips can have EM64T enabled when Windows 64 ships?

IMO, that can of worms is so big that even Intel won't attempt it. Prescott is a 32-bit chip PERIOD until Intel certifies one or more Prescott platforms (CPU+chipset+mobo design) to be "guaranteed to work on XP 64."
