Selling one's assets to appear to be debt free does not improve the bottom line. The wasting of an asset whether it be taken out of the ground or out of the proverbial warehouse is still gone.

You sell oil to pay bills, you sell oil at the top of market to maximize the value of the asset not leaving in the tank to be worth 1/5th of what it could have been.

Oil reserves in the reservoir are only worth a fraction of what they are on the sales ticket.

Just the simple way the 'awl-bidness' is...
