Performance wise, I do agree that Intel is in a pretty deep hole, but I doubt that 64-bits will exacerbate the problem. After all, Nocona already has EM64T on it. When Microsoft comes out with 64-bit Windows, then Intel will enable EM64T on the desktop. Very simple.


I think the difference is in the instructions and not the memory
address issue. Though I'm one of those few that actually use
those instructions.

Microsoft appears to be have a lot of problems lately and one
of my coworkers is going to talk to a relative there to get an
idea as to what's happening. I have a few well-placed contacts
that I haven't used in a few years but I don't think it's a good
time to tap them.

BTW, are you keeping up with what's happening at HPQ and your
favorite OS?
