Neuro, In a related question, how likely would you rate the possibility of a private equity outfit taking over Cortex?

Ever since the FDA rejection of the ADHD Phase 2b application in 2007, Cortex has often referred to exploring 'strategic options', and 'M+A' when discussing future plans. I wonder what a list of these potential M+A options would look like?

A few that come to mind -

1) Buyout of Cortex by another company.

2) Private equity buyout of Cortex

3) Merger of Cortex with a cash rich/pipeline poor company.

4) Partnership that gives a company or private equity firm a sizable ownership stake in Cortex.


Unlike #1,2, wouldn't #3,4 allow the possibility of a revival in management's stock options?
