Mr. Ordie: They make money infringing our patents. Eventually we show up and say: "You made that money by infringing our patents, so some of that money is ours; and, by the way, don't do it anymore until you sign here."

That is, in fact, the way it works.

Damages for past infringement, plus a license agreement going forward.
