upc, I will be glad to agree to disagree, and revisit this when the ratings are better understood by us & the public has a chance to respond with their money!

(BTW- I really don't care about winning the argument. I'd rather lose the argument and see AMD win in the market. I do get around and speak to computer buyers - educated students as well as busy businessmen. I think I have a good feel for the psychology of the buying public: They learn the very minimum they need to make a snap buying decision, and more often than not that decision is made on a simplistic reason such as branding or the first technical spec they think they understand. They think they understand GHz - they don't - but they know they don't understand the performance ratings. When the salesman can simply say that the AMD performance rating is equivalent to the Intel GHz then they are happy with comparing. Anything more complicated than that and they are lost.)
