Not in AMD's case re faster desktop. Like I said before they already are at the very highest end with 130nm alone and are demand-limited as the market for $300+ cpus is not exactly gigantic wink. 90nm will have more positive effect on the low-end desktop first as well as allowing AMD to maintain their offerings in the high end in the future. Obviously you are right about the cool mobile space and Hector is giving it due attention with low-power A64 and Sempron 90nm offerings first. All in all it's a nice situation to be in, to not actually be chasing Intel's tail performance-wise on a process shrink. Just need to produce 90nm in volume now to make some money in this window before Intel's 65nm hits town.
