Of course it's all crap shoot. But bottom line, you see the dealer at a blackjack table showing "15" and you've got "11", what do you do? You roll the bones, brother!

Same with the Golden Cross (disclaimer: I just learned the name, I used to look at the 50/200 MA before without a name!)

When the trend is up, when the news is good, when something good is on the horizon, when the 50 day is about to surpass the 200 day MA( which means that the chart probably looks like an Me-163 post take off!), then I'm going to roll the bones that my .30 stock will be higher in a couple of weeks.

When the news is not so good, when there is nothing going on and I see the the 50 about to drop below the 200 (which means the chart looks like the back half of a projectile's trajectory) I'm going to roll the bones that my .30 stock is about to hit ground zero.

I guess that's an "intuitive" way of charting?
