I think HP Opteron volume will be highest for some time, Sun would really need to catch fire to catch up. The most promising news are the rumored introductions will be HP Opteron blades (I believe 2 models: BL-25 and BL-35) and the highest volume model will most likely be the rumored DL-385.

We will have to see what comes out of Serverworks and Sun's Kaelia.

I think the biggest recent positive news for Opteron adoption is the SQL Server 2005 Beta that for now supports only Opteron (or Athlon). I think the companies that run Windows Servers + SQL Server are the toughest nut for AMD to crack. Microsoft just gave all of them a reason to look at Opteron.
