I understand your displeasure, but I think you're forgetting that we're dealing with the politics of the 2000's.

Not once did the Dems offer a different budget for Bush even after they promised one many times. The goal of todays politics is to NOT give an answer or suggestions but to let the party in power hang themselves.

Nothing is going to work so the repubs are happy to let the dems go down in flames.

Everything you've seen from congress lately is directly telling someone else or appointing a new committee to do or be responsible for it so their hands are clean.

Obama made a new board headed by Volcker to redo our tax laws yesterday. Why would go to and outside group of professor's and retired people?

Sadly the repubs and the dems are both hurting.
