Knowjack, the WSJ ad must have been for one of Intel's four ultra-low v PIII processors: 800, 750, 733 and 700 MHz. However, to achieve low voltage, each takes a big step down in speed once the chip senses DC. Eg, the PIII 700ULV steps down to 300MHz once the plug is pulled. Kind of like a time warp back to state of the art performance for 1998. INTC and its OEMs try to keep this information hidden in the back closet, which is a real restraint on TMTA's penetration into mobile markets.

This was the issue 1stfife was raising so vociferously on INTC and AMD boards. If you missed it, read his posts from around #1169 ("Hey FTC, the Cow Lied to Me!") forward. Great stuff, but really an important issue that needs more exposure.
