I did not understand what you said in that manner, but my answer would have been the same. There is nothing "dishonest" about doing it that way. He knows exactly what everything would be like had the stars in question been around for billions of years, and He created the Universe in just such a mature state -- again exactly like He created Adam in a mature state. It would not have worked any other way, for then there would be no stars for us to look at.

No, I remain in total awe of God and His creation.
