Apple will host an event on Tuesday at which it will preview new software and SDK.
Reuters reports that Apple is inviting partners and the press to its Cupertino HQ on Tuesday (March 17th), at which it will provide a "sneak peek" at iPhone 3.0 Software and a new software development kit (SDK).
Other than that details are sketchy, though previous speculation has hinted at enhanced video and Flash support.
Presumably the OS update will be supported by new iPhone handset(s) later in the year.
There has also been a steady stream of speculation on future iPhone functionality in the comments section of this ME story from last year.
Apple sold 13.7 million iPhones last year and generated 500 million downloads from its App Store.
