Neilpeart,

The ecosystem is entirely different from the licensing model. Licensing is merely one component that allows you to interconnect the other pieces. For example, let us imagine that "you," yes "you" were just granted the exclusive rights to the hydrogen and fuel cell technologies that are needed for a global rollout of "gasless" powered vehicles (the ultimate GREEN energy).

How do you now get paid? You have something of value (the exclusive rights) but without infrastructure they are valueless.

Now you run into a series of questions that require answers:

*Do you have hydrogen infrastructure at the pumps?
*Do you "need" hydrogen infrastructure at the pumps?? Is there a company out there with a technology that utilizes nanotechnology to create hydrogen. Using broken carbon nanotubes may allow for the production of hydrogen at much lower temperatures thereby presenting at least a remote possibility that hydrogen can be created within the vehicles themselves!

*You now have the rights, however, you have nobody to build pumps at the stations.
*You have the rights, however, you do not have anyone to build the autos.
*You have the rights, however, you have not set the standards for the buildout. How do you get all the hydrogen producing companies to agree on "one" standardized refilling nozzle at the pumps (let alone all the other standards that will need to be established and agreed to)?
*You have the rights, however, you have not met safety standards because you have not met with the standards bodies.
*And let's not forget, how do you engineer the fuel cells??
*Who/what audience is the target market? All parties will want to know.
*Where is your business plan??? Will anybody listen to you without a solid business plan? This includes the question everyone is waiting for...What does the licensing model look like? :)
* Etc, etc. The list is annoyingly extensive.

You now need to meet with multiple industries, and at some point in time will need them to begin talking with each other (cross-industry). All players will need to collaborate and work productively towards common goals in order to make the system work cohesively. Failure to do so could end in slow or even zero adoption rates when it comes to buy the end product.

NeoMedia has achieved all of this and more IMO, and continues to blaze its trail (I hope I am right :) )

Hope this helps to clarify.

Best,
