Looks like a gamble.

Dell is out to make money at the margin on high volume. That's
not the game with IPF. That's more long-term customer relationship
type stuff that Sun used to be good at.

I'd guess that IPF was customer-driven. Maybe some large
customers out there that like Sun but want a few hardware
choices too.
