chipguy - I imagine the timing says something about where their priorities are - how long has Itanium been around?

Since 2001. But Sun very publically killed its Solaris on
IPF port a few years ago. The fact that they revived it to
the point it is running on IPF servers in their lab and
are having "very productive" discussions with Intel about
it demonstrates how *no* OEM can ignore IPF and still hope
to stay in the game.
