I understood eventual turn around to mean a turn around in a reasonable time like 1 or 2 years. If it is long time to money, buying a Treasuries fund and collecting 4% is a safer bet. And if you stick to a fund with 5 to 10 year maturities, your principal will be protected fairly well too
