Canada Approves Patent on Cyclone Power Technologies' Green Engine

Last update: 8:00 a.m. EST March 3, 2009
POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Mar 03, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Cyclone Power Technologies, Inc. (Pink Sheets:CYPW) announced today that the Canadian Intellectual Property Office has issued a notice of allowance for patent protection on the company's environment-friendly external combustion engine.
Canada's approval of the company's patent application marks the sixth major industrialized nation, including the U.S., to issue patent protection on the Cyclone Engine. Recently, China, Russia, Australia and South Africa also issued patent acceptance letters.
"We have received a great deal of interest in manufacturing and marketing our clean, green engines in Canada," stated Frankie Fruge, Cyclone's COO and Director. "With this protection we are in a better position to enter agreements with Canadian groups, which we believe will ultimately generate sales and licensing revenue."
Canada has been making great strides recently in developing renewable energy projects. Ontario, Canada's largest province, passed the Green Energy and Green Economy Act in February aimed at making the region a leader in renewable energy production over the following years. Of high importance in the legislation is the production and use of biomass, a fuel source on which the Cyclone Engine is particularly well adapted to run.
Cyclone received its first patent in the United States on its award-winning, heat regenerative steam engine (#7,080,512) in 2006, and then on the engine's unique centrifugal combustion chamber (#7,407,382) in 2008. The company has applications pending for other components of its engine in the U.S., and for the engine in virtually every industrialized nation.
