That is true with any domesticated animal. You need to get them used to the sound of a gun. This applies to both dogs and horses. As to being afraid of horses...you shouldn't be...but, you should respect them like any animal. Size doesn't matter when it comes to man vs animal. A small pit bull can do just as much damage as a bull or a horse as far as domesticated animals go if you rile them or make them upset. I approach all animals, both wild and domesticated, with a certain amount of respect. If one is nice to the domesticated animal it's a pretty good chance they will return that love. Not so with the wild animal. I have no desire to walk up and pet a Mountain Lion or Grizzly Bear. LOL
