Consulting firm Watson Wyatt said its poll of 245 large U.S. companies taken in mid-February found a sharp decline in the percentage that said they would be making more job cuts. You could certainly read that as an indication that the worst of the job losses in this downturn is behind us, since the conventional wisdom holds companies cut first and ask questions later.
