Pres. Obama is a very effective speaker. That said, these overseas operations have gained these advantages by employing reduced labor costs and newer manufacturing facilities as they did years ago with the steel industry. We as a world manufacturing base as well as financial center have been living well by using these offshore operations while neglecting our less efficient and poorly managed base. Protectionism is not the cure!!!! Restructuring our economy is!! This drain of our wealth to the world oil monopoly must be solved first by developing our own renewable energy to replace oil as our primary source of energy. Next, our manufacting base must be modernized to meet the offshore challenge. Old plants must be closed and replaced by up to date and competitive facilities, and labor must adjust to these realities,too, by making concessions. And, oh yes, BIG GOVERNMENT(the royalty of our society) must also adjust by reducing their unending need for more money to operate - - THEY DO NOT PRODUCE WEALTH, BUT ONLY SPEND IT !!!! The tax system we now use must be changed, the sooner the better!!!
