K8 3100+ Sempron performance estimate.

I took Tom's gaming benchmarks starting from here* and did the following calculations. I assumed that the performance drop from A64 2800+ to SP 3100+ would be the same as A64 3200+ to A64 3000+. i.e. a halving of cache in both cases at the same clock speed. In reality it will probably be more like 3/4 the drop due to the large L1 cache but I have assumed it anyway as a worst case scenario. In the grid below I have given this estimate for the 3100+ in FPS alongside the XP 3200+ and the XP 2800+ which btw is as near as damn it the equivalent of a K7 Sempron 3100+. This is an exercise that can be repeated for the non-gaming benches.

XP 2800+ XP 3200+ SEMP 3100+

Quake 3 = 307 340 302
Quake 3 TA = 178 199 190
Wolfenstein = 118 131 130
Comanche = 49 53 54
UT 2004 = 103 112 115
Splinter Cell = 59 66 66
Nascar 2004 = 67 76 72
Aquamark = 80 88 90
Far Cry = 151 170 181

Looks like XP PR + 100 to me smile while the K7 Sempron is XP PR - 300 frown

Also looks like K7 = (K8 - 400 Mhz) * 1/2 K8 L2 cache
or K8 = (K7 + 400 Mhz) * 2 K7 L2 cache
