mas,

What I really don't get is that AMD has been demand limited since Q4 2000, which is almost a lifetime. I don't know about the current situation, but I have to go by the assumption that AMD continues to be demand limited.

Why would then AMD not continue to make better performing Bartons, if production capacity is not limited? It seems that AMD is simultaneously cutting the performance of these parts and introducing yet another idiotic rating.

This one is a good example: 2600+ (1.83GHz)
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=17261

2500 used to be that, with addition of 512K, meaning based on the old XP rating, this part would probably be 2400, if not 2300.

I just have to scratch my head when I see the marketing guys this much "engaged".

Looking at the entire Sempron Roadmap, assuming the current Barton bin split have 2500 (1.83 GHz part) as pretty much the lowest bin, wtf is AMD doing with this Sempron thing?

Now to confuse things further, there is the Geode based on K7, that overlaps with this new Sempron to some extend, and we have a total confusion.

Maybe we should start a new contest if the Sempron brand will outlast the Duron brand.
