i'm a little confused by this. my understanding is that they want sempron to be successful. if they want it and need it then to make it work they need 90nm sooner rather than have 130nm stick around to make unprofitable k7s. or is there something magic in the name that turns a unprofitable k7 into a profitable one?

you did hear rivet's rather mumbled apology for asp declines yesterday that, inspite of the ramping of the presumably highly profitable k8, asps were declining more than enough in k7 to cause an overall asp decline. i'm guess that decline will accelerate in the next couple of quarters.

i confess i don't understand what positive effect will come from changing the name from duron from sempron.
