Haven't posted here in a while but just had to talk briefly about my viewing of the HBO movie Taking Chance.

For those that don't know the story, PFC Chance Phelps, was killed in action back in 2004 in Al Anbar Province. He was a gunner in a group of five vehicles when it came under attack. Chance's vehicle was requested to come to the front to provide some cover and after being successful, he was hit and killed. The movie covers the rest of the story as written by his escort, Lt Col Strobl. The movie focuses on the transport of Chance from Dover to Dubois, Wyoming (his early year's home town).

The movie debuted at the local high school and moving tributes were given by General Kelly (the current Western Iraq commander) who was in Chance's patrol, Lt Col Strobl (Chance's escort) and the movie's director. It was quite a tribute to our military and how the fallen are treated and the respect that everyday citizens show along the way. I'd highly recommend seeing it when you can. Do a little background reading first though.
