Not ta mention how they were also leveraged @ an ave of 30-1 between the banks....what were they (aheem Paulson) thinken? At least the Clinton admin had the brains ta turn down Paulson w/his 1st request to increase leverage when he was w/Goldman. So he simply waited for bush to come....made the 2nd request & in & voila....his wish was granted. & the irony of it all is....his excuse was that we needed to stay competitive w/the Europeans & up the ante.....& now look what it's done....pretty much knocked us down closer to their levels...& some would say below.
