Well they went and did it, they cracked the biggest global retailer and have only been released for 3 weeks! I walked into my local Walmart and a huge cardboard display is over the security beepers to order Halo Wars and get ringtones right then and there by using your mobile phone and the colorful Tag barcode. By the gaming console display cases inside the glass they have a cling hanging there to do the same.
I go home, turn my XBox console on and in the Gaming Spotlight there is another Tag right in the XBox user interface to do the same.
Ohh and they're also in GameInformer magazine for a Halo Wars ad and gives you more info on the game.
They've wrapped this up: biggest selling console game of all time, biggest global retailer in multiple locations, multiple media: magazine; multiple in-store displays; and digital display within the XBox.
They're going to clean this sector up... and the more and more I read about this on Twitter blogs etc, their code is reported by so many diffrent people that is works so much more reliably than QRCode or anything else. This will likely be the new global mobile code standard... the operators will likely bow to massive brands such as retailers over silly existing standards for something that is being adopted and more reliable
