Telecom companies shares down at the close of trading

NEW YORK (AP) --
Shares of some top telecom companies were down at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc fell $.09 or .4 percent, to $24.62.
Qwest fell $.08 or 2.4 percent, to $3.22.
Sprint Nextel fell $.14 or 5.4 percent, to $2.43.
Verizon fell $.36 or 1.2 percent, to $29.87.
