Newly2b: Is there a reason for a trendline drawn on a semi-log chart to have more validity than one drawn on a linear chart?

There is only one way to answer that question, per my experience...

I started charting using Dow Jones Market Analyzer Plus and Technifilter Plus back in the mid eighties. (Dow Jones was my data service as well.) The simple answer is that early on it became obvious to me that semi-log worked best. However, for the first decade I still toggled back and forth just to make sure on a fairly regular basis. By the mid nineties I stopped toggling on a regular basis, but I still do from time to time just to be sure. Longer-term charts plotted using linear scaling are pretty much worthless IMO.
