No, I'm not saying that we should drive unwed, teenage moms back into the closet. Not at all. But I am saying that we have a demographic doomed to a life of poverty because of unwed, early births.

As for Palin's daughter, stats say that one teen birth, with ample family support and continued education is not a finacial detriment ten or twenty years out. Two or more teen births seems to doom many more to lifelong poverty... I disagree with encouraging 17 or 18 year old kids to marry, before they're emotionally ready to make such a commitment.
