...visited Zachys in Scarsdale over the weekend...

...and had an unusual and disappointing experience...

...most NYC-area posters are probably familiar with Zachys...they are a world-renowned wine store where a customer is probably as likely to buy a $100 bottle of wine as a $20 bottle of rum...

...in May, "imnxman" posted on Yahoo that Zachys carried Trump Vodka, in response to my posting that I had difficulty locating it in the NYC / Westchester County areas...that made sense to me because it was such an upscale shop...I accessed the store's website and typed "Trump Vodka" into the site's search engine...the result was "not in stock"...my assumption was that it was probably selling well...I made no further inquiries at the store until the other day...

...I had business near Scarsdale this weekend, so I paid a visit, looking forward to purchasing a bottle of Trump Grape, my first...

...upon entering the store you immediately recognize the store's attention to wine...I would guess that no more than 20% of the shop's floor was dedicated to spirits...on the left as you enter is the vodka shelves...no sign of TV...most medium to large-size liquor / package stores carry a larger selection of spirits than Zachys...

...the only flavored vodkas on the shelves were from : Absolut, Grey Goose and Stoli...none of the newer brands...

...as I was obviously "searching", a well-dressed gentleman asked if I needed assistance...I replied that I did...I asked him if the store carried Trump Vodka or Trump Flavors...he led me to another man who was actively engaged in packing wine into a crate...I asked him the same question...

...he replied : (some paraphrasing here) : "No, we had a problem with the company that sells it. We no longer carry anything from them". I asked him : "Is the company "Drinks Americas""?...He relied, "Yes".

...I asked him if he would elaborate. He replied (again some paraphrasing) : "We had a dispute over a bill. It was all their fault. They called here 100 times, harassing us and threatening to sue us over a bill we paid on time. Later they realized that the bill was paid, but that a clerical error led them to believe that it had not been". ...

...I asked him how long ago this was. He replied : "six months or so". I then asked him how well the TV sold. His reply : "It flew off the shelves ; it sold VERY well". (I failed to ask him if they had sold any TV Flavors). Further : "After all the threats and problems the boss said : "No more. So we don't carry any of their stuff". ...

...IMO this was a potentially extremely costly error. Zachys ships worldwide and counts among their clientele upscale wine connoissuers and fine restaurants...

...if you want to badger some local "Joe's Liquors" about a bill, fine...but to do so to such a renowned and established enterprise was a big mistake, IMO...

...IMO Zachys reputation should have precluded Drinks' actions...

...of course, I heard only one side to the story...but it was believable enough for me to post here today...

...I know that there are several enthusiastic shareholders here whose interest I have piqued today...perhaps someone with previous contacts with Drinks could get their side of the story...

...for the serial pumpers and non-believers, here is Zachys phone no. : 1-800-723-0241 / (914) 723-0241...Duke...
