Hi, my last post sort of answered this, but again: I don't see how 8 will be enough. It is not a matter of an "arbitrary number"; I really don't care whether it is 16 or 17 or 14 or whatever.

But, the distinctions made have to be sufficiently more detailed that the current 4 to make the investment in a new test worthwhile. If you sit down and try to figure out what the 8 could be, it doesn't sound too promising. Will they break up each of the 4 into 2 categoies each? What will they be? European vs. South Asian? Is that informative? East Asian vs. Pacific Islander? Is that informative? Or will some categories have 3, and others stay with 1?

The bottom line is: information. To motivate people to buy the test, you need to "tempt" them with the possibility that they will learn something useful about their heritage.

I just don't see how just another 4 categories can do that. Again, if Gabriel is under-promising, that's fine. But I hope they are not _serious_ about a 8 group test. If anything then, they should have released a 8 group test as their initial product, instead of the 4 group one.
