Have the same problem in my family (not 12 though).

The facility he is in now kept upping the seroquel (was Zyprexa before but I got the Nueologist to switch) even got the Neurologist to drop the seroquel but the facility would get it added back. So we're left with the choice move him (when he has been kicked out of places even this place wanted him out) or accept it.

One thing the weight gain on seroquel/zyprexa makes him much less active which was a big reason for putting him on the meds so now a bit easier to get them to drop/lower them.

After seeing what the disease does to people if I am in the position I think risk of dying is not a big worry but don't like to see others with the risk.
