Happy Holidays!

I'm in Mount Holly, New Jersey assisting my mom with workman's comp issues. For those of you who don't know, my mom traded her sanity in for security by joining the night shift of the post office. What she's going through right now is a true testament to why people go postal. Since she wakes up for her day at 9PM and gets home around 1PM from her job, I'm trying to be the life in her battle with the health care system. Whoo Hoo! If you haven't seen Sicko by Michael Moore I suggest you go see it and then you can send your pity dollars in care of Mrs. Arena in Mt. Holly ;)

Aside from life happening, we're still planning our move to L.A. and at least managed to get our things into storage. We'll leave as soon as we can find a temporary foster home for the dogs while we search a home. I think I mentioned I was the voice of the butterfly Miami Zoo's display before, but other than that I've been trying to sort out all of my own projects to prioritize them for launch.

* I thought it would be nice to regularly feature a hero of the month in what most of you now call my blog. This month, Jeremy Ellis really stepped it up by researching the forms and procedures my mama needs to follow through with. He did so without solicitation which is why I felt his deeds heroic. I've also received a lot of support from my many cousins here, my dad in Maryland, and my Aunt Woofie so my hero of the month idea started getting muddy.

Then, out of the blue, an acquaintance fast becoming a friend, offered me quite a push to finish up my album. Nothing is finalized, but between our marketing creativity and networking savvy, I suspect I can tell my mom to quit working for the federal government once and for all. When more is finalized, I'll make a big announcement. In the meantime, keep your eyes on what else he has coming at www.qoltv.com to enjoy life 's experience.

* Health Tip: Don't brush your teeth! My public service announcement (PSA) for this issue to be afraid of fluoride. That should make you paranoid enough to entertain me. Go to this link to learn more - http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7319752042352089988&hl=en

And if you do stop brushing your teeth , please, keep our contact limited to the Internet and the phone. Thanks.

* Freak of the Week - My friend Lance's band, Penumbrae, played at The Village Idiot in Grosse Pointe Park not too long ago. I'd never been before and I'd likely not go back unless someone was performing again. As I was walking out of the bathroom I started towards a guy who turned from his friend to shoot a giant loogie onto the floor. He instantly recognized that I was staring right at him so he boyishly grinned and said, "Sorry about that." With repulsion spelled out clearly on my face I replied, "That's disgusting" and continued walking. Who spits indoors?

So I give him my Freak of the Week award for spitting and for thinking that apologizing about it would somehow redeem him. I would also like to give an honorable mention to the moron who designed the quaint "poor, little, rich boy's" dive bar by putting the lowest grade office carpet available on the floor of the bar. I imagine spilled alcohol, puke, blood, perhaps urine, and certainly spit enjoys quite a party in those drab fibers.

* Stress Free Shopping - If lead paint, global warming, and rising oil prices hasn't scared you into shopping locally or buying American yet, perhaps great products from super cool people will entice you.

Here's some cool shopping and yet another GREAT use of the Internet: At zazzle.com you can create a product from your own picture or design which is a good way to make one-offs for yourself and share them with friends. If you're not feeling creative, maybe my friend David has something for you at http://www.zazzle.com/lafleur*

And don't forget last month I told you about the childrens' series stemming from my friends' first hit, Bekka and the Bubble. http://www.bbbubble.com/

I'm also going to try to get a photo of myself in one of my friend's, Angelique's, scarves next week so you can get something sweet WITHOUT SHOPPING AT WALMART! Oh, sorry. Was I shouting?

Enjoy your holidays or watching the rest of us go crazy if you don't celebrate!

As always, have a prosperous New Year! Here's a very cool artist you should check out who I don't actually know, yet -
