BMC Software (NYSE:BMC) today announced the availability of an important customer case study detailing successful implementation of BMC Remedy IT Service Management by the United Kingdom’s Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S).
The UK armed forces rely on DE&S to supply and support their assets. DE&S uses BMC Remedy IT Service Management solutions to ensure IT service levels, as well as to discover, understand, model, respond, and track IT system problems and business services failures — all as part of an over-arching Business Service Management (BSM) strategy.
The system originally used by DE&S to support defense technology assets was challenging to change and adapt. With the number of assets growing quickly, DE&S needed to devote more and more resources to managing the system. Therefore, the goal was to replace it with a solution that was more user-friendly, adaptive, and cost-effective.
“After a rigorous review of all available alternatives, the British Defence Equipment and Support organization selected and implemented BMC Remedy IT Service Management,” said Dev Ittycheria, president of BMC’s Enterprise Service Management business unit. “DE&S supports as many as 300,000 defense technology assets at 1,100 separate locations — 800 in the UK and 300 overseas, including the full fleet of Royal Navy vessels. BMC Software is proud to be a part of such an important mission.” Read more at http://documents.bmc.com/products/documents/90/90/89090/89090.pdf Business runs on IT. IT runs on BMC Software.
