Whoa!Whoa! Whoa! re: that SI link in your post -
Anthony Papalia Sr. isn't TONY PAPA is he? The guy some of the touts were fighting about on the MCCY board? the guy with the mob connections? the Dan Ryan/Downshire Capital/Clarkson Capital guy? the guy with the golden shells?

-------
This does not suggest that Gary Berthold, CEO, is a mobster or a scammer. However, it brings into question his judgment for the company that he and his associates keep and for the negative perceptions encountered marketing a tainted shell that should have been reasonably foreseeable.

The Case Against PHMB

Chapter 1, Nefarious Associations

First off, there were the nefarious associations. I came to this board as the result of a tip that Dino Paolucci Jr. had been named a board member. As I looked into the history of this company, it became apparent that nefarious associations were widespread and even involved mobster connections. A current board member, Steve York, works for a company financed by a former mafia capo who is rumored to control mafia activities in North Carolina. The shell company was previously controlled by Tony Papa, a mobster currently standing trial for income tax evasion. Dan Ryan and Dino Paolucci Jr, though not mobsters, have colorful histories with past pump and dump schemes. This does not suggest that Gary Berthold, CEO, is a mobster or a scammer. However, it brings into question his judgment for the company that he and his associates keep and for the negative perceptions encountered marketing a tainted shell that should have been reasonably foreseeable.

Anthony Papalia Sr., AKA Tony Papa, and his wife Micheline Gallo were charged in May 2008 with evasion of income taxes by Canadian authorities for tax years 2002 through 2007 in the amount of $18.6 million (Canadian). The source of this income was the sale of penny stocks including FLST subsequently renamed ABVG. Investigation revealed that some of the money derived from stock sales was concealed with Canadian mobsters. The names of Tony Papa and his brother-in-law, Moreno Gallo, who is currently in jail for the murder of a drug dealer, surfaced in another mob related investigation, Operation Coliseum. Moreno Gallo has in the past been mentioned as a candidate for the position of chief mobster in Toronto.

Anthony Papalia Sr. and Robert Papalia are Italian born twin brothers who are well known to police in Vancouver, Montreal and London. According to a January 4, 1996 edition of 'The Daily Mail' (London), Anthony Papalia Sr. escaped from prison while awaiting a 1980 trial on charges of defrauding investors of a gold mining scheme in British Columbia. According to a December 27, 1997 edition of 'The Vancouver Sun', the Papalia brothers and another partner, Giovanni Camporese, have had run-ins with securities regulators. The article stated that, "In 1977, they were arrested by Scotland Yard in an alleged plot to defraud investors through Metals Research, which claimed to have a gold mine in British Columbia. Despite intense media coverage and lengthy court proceedings, they were eventually acquitted of all charges. Meanwhile, Anthony Papalia had been charged in Vancouver with defrauding Continental Securities of $51,000. He was convicted in 1982 and sentenced to two years less a day, but the appeal court overturned the conviction and ordered a new trial." Although criminally charged with securities-related crimes on several occasions, they have never been convicted. They have, however, been blackballed from the Vancouver Stock Exchange.
