Money manager at center of scandal once advised government on protecting investors from scams

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/081216/madoff_scandal.html

& my fav paragraph.....

"As a former Nasdaq chairman, Madoff was an expert sought by Washington regulators who asked for advice on any number of regulatory issues over the years. In 2000, Madoff served on the government's Advisory Committee on Market Information, established to protect investors by ensuring accurate and full public disclosure of information to them."

Also...

"The Wall Street Journal reported DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg and the foundation of Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel also took hits."

Nothin like stealing from your own :0

Wonder if the courts will allow the Movie Rights to default to Katz over @ Dreamworks as a form of legal compensation? I've actually met "Katz" (as they call him) b4....several yrs ago prior to him gettin Dreamworks off the ground. My now ex-bro in law once worked for Paramount on their Hollywood lot...he was fairly high up there on the food chain...he even got me an internship there for a summer down in L.A.....the yr during the Oly's...wadda time to be interning on the Paramount lot...I was on the TV side. The offer was so good (no pay of course but free room & board & being on the lot each day & in L.A. during the Oly's...how could I pass it up at that age...21) that I decided to put makin decent $$ teaching tennis over the summer on hold for a season. Anyway....actually got to sit down w/Katzenberg & my bro inlaw at the Paramount commisarry for a quick lunch one day. Nice enuff guy he was. After that he always was sure to say hello to me when we happened to pass each other on the lot....Henry Winkler too actually...but that's anothet story. Several yrs & few jobs later Katz asked my bro inlaw (was still married to my sis then) ta leave Paramount to go work for Dreamworks during their start up yrs.....which he did...then retired after just a few yrs w/Katz....think he was actually the 1st Dreamworks CFO.

So that's my Hollywood glory story....but come late Aug that summer I had ta get back home to continue my last yr of J.C....I was on the 2.5 ta 3 yr JC plan...lol Guess I coulda transferred to a So Cal J.C. & continued interning @ Paramount w/the hopes of it turning into something bigger...but I was too much of a jock ta give up the tennis for a desk job...at 21 I really didn't see myself workin at a desk or even inside for that matter. Of course now I wonder what coulda've become of that connection if I pursued it further. Hob-nobbin every day w/the likes of Da Fonz, Robin Williams (this was right at the end of the Mork & Mindy run which was taped on the lot there), Ronnie Howard & all the other cast of characters who were signed w/Paramount at the time. I even tried hitten on Mallory Keaton (Justine Bateman) of Family Ties one day @ the commissary....but she wasn't haven any of it....especially from a lowly intern...lol

OK.....there's my 7 (more like 9 I guess) degrees of separation from Bernie Boy ;)~
