CALGARY, June 24 /CNW/ - Ceramic Protection Corporation ("CEP": TSX Venture) announced today that it has recently received four new orders from international customers, including a major integrated armour manufacturer located in the United States. Two of the orders are for bonded personnel ceramic plates manufactured by the Corporation. The third order is for the Corporation's Ceramic Armour on Patrol (CAP) System and the fourth order is for ceramic tiles to be used in armour panels for vehicular protection. The four orders have a total value of approximately CAD $2.1 million.
Ballistic Ceramic Plates
The orders for ballistic bonded ceramic personnel plates were received from two customers and total approximately CAD $1.6 million. Dr. Wallace, Chief Executive Officer, noted that the orders represent continued strong demand for military applications for the Corporation's products destined for the U.S. military marketplace.
CAP System
The Corporation has received its first international order for the Ceramic Armour on Patrol (CAP) System used for police applications. The CAP system is a portable personnel armour system designed specifically to enhance the protection of police and military forces against rifle threats. Dr. Wallace noted that there is strong interest being expressed by numerous police departments for the CAP system developed by the Corporation. This first international sale amounts to CAD $307,000 and indicates the market for the system extends beyond the North American marketplace. The Corporation is continuing its training programs used to instruct officers on general applications of ceramic armour and the use of the CAP system in particular. This training program has raised the profile of the Corporation among police departments in Canada and has served to assist them with better decision- making regarding the choice and use of ceramic personnel armour systems.
Vehicular Armour
The Corporation has received an order for CAD $173,000 for ceramic tiles to be used in armour panel systems on military vehicles. This initial order from an international customer demonstrates a continuing recognition of the value of pressed alumina ceramic tiles used in armour panel systems.
Order Backlog
Demand in the international armour systems market remains strong. The Corporation continues to actively pursue orders in relation to negotiated supply agreements as well as new customers in the larger international market. Current order backlog for the Corporation is approximately CAD $16 million.
Corporate Development
The Corporation is pleased to announce the addition of new personnel. Mr. Todd Reinsch has joined the Corporation as Controller. A graduate of the University of British Columbia (B.Comm.), and a current member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, he has over 14 years of experience in accounting and financial management. Mr. Glenn McKay has recently joined the armour sales team of the Corporation. Mr. McKay brings over 28 years of combined experience in police service and the protective products business.
Mr. Richard Brown has been promoted to Business Manager for the Corporation, responsible for the management and direction of armour and wear sales, finance and administration.
